Back to finding fit
Hit up my new gym today. I’m doing a secret shopper job that gives me 1 year free membership to the local mega gym. Pretty convenient huh? So tonight I did the elliptical for 23 (couldn’t make it to 30) minutes. I burned 200 calories and went 2.01 miles. Pretty sweet I’d say!

I know that I prefer healthy options as opposed to junk filled with fat and salt. I’d rather see beautiful natural colors in my lunch like green, red, orange, yellow, and brown. So why do I eat crap? Because it’s easy and I’m lazy. Eating beautiful healthy food requires forethought and planning. I must go to the grocery regularly and prepare the food before I eat it. As long as I can keep in mind...

SMART Theory for Setting Goals
S Specific: What exactly are you going to do? Make it clearly defined and simple. M Measurable: How long? How much? What are the milestones you will reach along the way? A Attainable: Make it reasonable. Do not expect to lose 50 pounds in 3 months. How about 5 to 8 pounds a month for X amount of months? R Rewarding: You have to stop and reward yourself along the way. Small rewards for reaching...

BMI
My BMI is 31.9. I live in the obease category. If I can get it down under 30.0 then I’ll be in the overweight category. I’ll be there when I get to 190 lbs. That seems so daughting and far away.

Week 4: Weigh In
Honestly I’m suprized I lost anything this week! I did not exercise (a billion exuses… none of which really matter). I did not eat well (again, billions of excuses… nothing of substance). Let’s just say I’m going to take the small loss this week and accept it as a near miss on a gain and buckle down this week. The Scale: Starting Weight: 207.3 lbs. Weight Last Weigh in: 204.1 lbs. Weight Today:...

Finding what?
Exercise has been zero this week folks. That’s right. Zero. I’ve done alright with my eating, but without movement I get no where. I have got to remember to make this a priority, even when I’m exhausted.

Very excited!
Tonight at church a new program starts that I’m excited to participate in. The program will be educational, supportive, motivation, and will help hold me accountable. There will be a weigh in every week and then some sort of education. The plan is to do four week cycles of “Weight Loss 101”: WEEK 1 - Introduction, getting ready for weight loss, medical screening, etc WEEK 2 - Nutrition 101  ...

Week 3: Weigh In
I’ve been neglecting the Tumblr and the gym… but not the diet. I had a significant loss this week which I’m quite happy about! I have plenty of things to write about here but no time. I’m making a list so I’m sure you’ll hear about them sometime. For now though here are the stats… The Scale: Starting Weight: 207.3 lbs. Weight Last Weigh in: 206.0 lbs. Weight Today: 204.1 lbs. Week 2: Weigh In
This weekend was a rough one. I tried really hard to stick to my WW points, but I know I totally blew it. I had a few pieces of cheese cake since it was the tail end of my birthday celebrations. Those indulgences haven’t caught up with me yet though apparently! The Scale: Starting Weight: 207.3 lbs. Weight Last Weigh in: 207.3 lbs. Weight Today: 206.0 lbs. Weight Change This Week: -1.3 lbs Total...

Yep it’s that time of year where young girls tempt me to take part in an American tradition. Girl Scout Cookies. More specifically Thin Mints I looked up how many WW points 1 Thin Mint is. Are you ready for this? It’s 1.5 points for ONE COOKIE!!! And let’s be honest for a moment… Who in the heck eats just 1 thin mint? I mean really? The serving size is 4. I can inhale one sleve in an afternoon by...

Did not eat well today. Not at all. It was all on track until I was called into a business lunch that served only pizza. It was a 2 hour long meeting. No escape back to my veggie soup and healthy foods. So I ate pizza. Then I ate 1/2 a cookie. Then I just kept eating and eating! Ugh. Gross. Good news is that I exercised! Went to the work gym after work with a work out buddy. It was great! Time...

Finding a healthy body image
I’ve always had iserious ssues with personal body images. I look in the mirror and see a ginormous woman staring back at me. Without knowing that pants seem to be getting smaller on me then I would have no idea that I am losing weight. With all the great Fitness/Nutrition/Weight Loss blogs I’ve been reading recently recommending that I watch The Biggest Loser on NBC I decided to tune in tonight....

Monday's Dinner Troubles
I wanted to post about this last night but forgot. My dinner at the place I tutor didn’t disappoint with the unhealthy food. They were serving breaded chicken patties & cheese of course with a side of pickles and chips and a cookie for dessert. I don’t think I did too bad. I got 1 patty on my sandwhich with no cheese and skipped the chips and cookies. This picture has mayo… I assure you mine...

HIMYM & The Elliptical
Watched How I Met Your Mother while doing 20 minutes on the elliptical. Burned 200 calories. No idea if that is a good amount of calories to burn in 20 minutes or not. On a side note: my company’s gym is pretty great when you’re the only one there!

Monday bloody Monday
Monday nights are always hard to eat healthy during. I tutor on Mondays and one piece of the program is eating with the children. Normally these meals are geared to be quick, easy, and kid friendly. None of those adjectives scream healthy. I may need to consider how to approach these nights so that I can stay on my track for fiding fit. I currently have 8 points left for the day. I know I’ll be...

What Does It Mean to Be Fit?
What Does It Mean to Be Fit? “To me, it seems senseless to seek some sort of objective measure of fitness. Each of us is different. We have different bodies. We have different minds. We have different goals. Instead, I think we ought to have individual standards of fitness, based on our personal strengths and weaknesses.”

2008 was a good year for weight loss
In 2008 Weight Watchers came to my place of work and we had an intense 12 week session. Here are my stats from that experience The Scale: Starting Weight (4/8/2008): 229.8 lbs. Ending Weight (6/24/2008): 215.6 lbs. Total Weight Lost: -14.2 pounds I just want to keep these figures in mind so that I can see that in 2008 I lost a total of 23 pounds. This year I know I can do that and more since I...

goodbye and good riddance
Finally, the happy-time holidays are over. No more seeing weirdos from high school, staying out past my bedtime and drinking 3,000 calories’ worth of booze every night. I can get back to my boring, old cat lady lifestyle of going to bed early and eating cereal for every meal. Week 1: Weigh In
So the first weigh in of Finding Fit. Today is Day #1 of my new attitude. I have weighed and measured out all my food for the day. I follow the Weight Watchers way of eating. I find if the most straight forward and mentally healthy way of eating for myself. I started this Tumblr account to keep me accountable and the thought of posting my weight is terrifying to say the least. However this is one...

FindingFit
Jan 1. So much hope and promise for the new year. I know it’s been said before, especially by me, but this is the year. This is the year that I will find fitness. Last year I lost 30lbs. I never felt fit though. I know that is because of 2 reasons: I have at least another 50 lbs to loose, and I don’t exercise. I know that exercising is what is going to help me really FEEL fit. The problem is that...
