So, here’s a non-scale goal I’m setting. The pictures above are me in some winter workout gear I bought on clearance this year. The shirt is super soft, warm, but still lightweight and it has thumb holes. It’s obviously too small and tight, but this winter it’s done the job of keeping warm and not having an excuse not to go for a walk.

It’s spring now and getting warmer so the winter workout gear will obviously get put away until fall here in a few weeks. My goal is that when I pull this shirt back out of the drawer in the fall that it’ll fit right. I will be able to wear it to the grocery and not worry about my rolls popping out!

EDIT: Woah - sorry for the bad photography. Left handed photography pre-coffee and post-workout is rough.

Weight Loss Anniversary

Over the weekend my 4 year anniversary of the first time I joined weight watchers occurred. I’ve been on and off the WW bus since then, but it is an important milestone b/c it is the first time I put my whole mind and heart into making myself healthier. A life long journey for sure.

Since that time I’ve lost and gained and lost and gained and lost a lot of weight. But the important thing I’m focusing on today is that the Amy 4 years ago weighed 42 pounds heavier than the Amy of today.

I have never done a before/after/progress photo because I feel like that is most impactful (for me, personally) when it’s before weight loss and at goal weight. But 42 pounds is a lot. It took a long time and a lot of work to do it. So here’s a progress photo. The before is at Christmas 2007 (because photos of me from that time period are hard to come by so this will have to do) and the current one is from the sister-cation Vegas trip in February 2012.

Today I officially have lost more than 5% of my weight. Woohoo!

Eat This!

Trader Joe’s Sour Cream and Onion Corn Puffs

2.5 cups = 3 WW points

These suckers are delish and at 2.5 cups as a serving size they can likely last you the whole hour that LOST is on! Just don’t plan on playing kissy face with any one after you indulge in these bad boys! Any one have a tic tac?

Portion Size Struggles

Today is the full first day back on Weight Watchers. I haven’t officially followed their eating plan since mid 2008. Since that time I’ve been staying as close as I could to their plan. Well as close as I thought I could. Every morning I have 1 cup of Honey Nut Cheerios and a half of a cup of light vanilla Silk Soy Milk. I keep the measuring cup in the cereal box just so I don’t over pour. (I’m notorious of having a mixing bowl full of cereal if I don’t watch it!) So this morning I pop into the WW website and enter my cereal intake. Low and behold! 1 cup of Honey Nut Cherrios is actuall 2.5 points. For a year and some change I’ve been counting that as 2 points.

It’s only a half of a point! Right? Well thinking about it, I wonder what else I eat that I missed the half point extra when counting. The point counting sounds super annoying written out here…. However it fits in really well with my extremely anal retentive nature and my desire to do things in the “right way” and “follow the rules”.

P.S. Instant coffee is disgusting and I really need to go to the grocery (at least for real coffee!)

Week 4: Weigh In

The Scale:

Starting Weight: 186.6 lbs.
Weight Last Weigh in: 184.0 lbs.
Weight Today: 190 lbs.
Weight Change This Week: +6 lbs
Total Weight Lost: +3.4 pounds

Time to reevaluate how this is going. Not well.

Time for drastic measures.

Ok… What?

Shell out some dough so I stop eating fried dough and get myself under control again!

Hm…. Don’t like that idea.

Too bad. I already charged it to the ol’ credit card.

Damn.

Yep. Back on Weight Watchers. I purchased the 3 month deal on WeightWatchers.com. I’ve never done the program online. I’ve only gone to meetings or attempted it on my own. Both with success. So online should be interesting. I have an iPod touch (thanks to my place of employment) so I can use their iPod app to track my food as long as I’m on wi-fi. 3 months. If I can be good for 3 months I can see myself being down 15lbs. That’s a little less than 1.5 lb a week. Doable.

I picked Friday as my weigh in day on the site. I think I will see more success if I focus on Friday weigh ins (instead of Mondays) because then I won’t be carrying around my weekend water weight from my usual adult beverage intake on Friday and/or Saturday evenings.

Any one else doing Weight Watchers?
